Are We a Good Fit?

Welcome to our integrative mental health care practice in Nashville! We believe that mental health is a vital part of overall well-being, and we are committed to providing personalized care that addresses both the mind and body.

In this blog post, we’ll explore the unique approach we take in our practice, including medication management and therapy options. By sharing insights into our philosophy and services, we hope to help you determine if we’re the right fit for your mental health journey. Whether you're seeking support for anxiety, depression, or any other mental health concern, we’re here to guide you towards a path of healing and growth.

We may be a good fit for you if…

You are comfortable with self-pay.

As an out-of-network provider, Redefining Roots can offer enhanced care using integrative approaches that may not be available through insurance. This enables faster and improved recovery, along with better access to timely appointments. Although we do not accept insurance, we offer superbills that you can submit to insurance if you qualify for out of network coverage.

You are open to collaborative care.

At our integrative mental health care practice, we prioritize collaborative care, recognizing that you are the expert on your own experiences and needs. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we actively seek your insights throughout your therapy journey. We’ll ask thoughtful questions about your past experiences with mental health medications, your openness to trying them, and any concerns you may have.

Additionally, we work closely with other healthcare practitioners you may be seeing—such as therapists, dietitians, and psychologists—to ensure a holistic understanding of your health. Together, we can create a comprehensive plan that best supports your mental well-being.

You are interested in additional testing.

By utilizing various modalities—including psychopharmacology, nutritional supplements, lab testing, and pharmacogenomic testing—we aim to tailor your treatment plan to your unique needs. We believe in looking at your whole-body health, which can involve referring you for lab tests, or encouraging pharmacogenomic testing.

This holistic approach ensures that both your mind and body are healthy and stable, paving the way for positive progress in your therapy work. Our goal is to empower you with the most effective tools for your mental health journey.

You are willing to discuss nutritional supplements.

We believe that nutrition plays a vital role in mental health, and we encourage open discussions about nutritional supplements as part of your treatment plan. Our goal is to empower you to explore how dietary choices and supplements can support your overall well-being. Whether you're curious about specific vitamins, minerals, or herbal remedies, we want to create a safe space for you to share your thoughts and experiences.

By collaborating on these discussions, we can identify the best strategies to enhance your mental health and complement your therapy. Together, we can find the right balance that supports both your mind and body.

You are going to therapy or open to going to therapy.

We truly value the therapeutic relationship. We value seeing a therapist for support or those who are open to pursuing therapy alongside our services. Having a strong support system is essential for mental health, and we believe that collaborating with other professionals can enhance your overall treatment experience. Whether you’re currently in therapy or considering it, we’re here to support your journey and work alongside your therapist to ensure a cohesive approach to your mental well-being.

This partnership allows us to create a more comprehensive and effective treatment plan, empowering you to thrive both in and out of our practice.

You are experiencing or have experienced any of the following:

  • Difficulty with your mental health alongside substance use, dependency or recovery.

  • Past emotional or psychological trauma

  • Intrusive thoughts and repetitive behaviors

  • Persistent feelings of sadness or emptiness

  • Constant worry or feeling on edge

  • Emotional challenges before, during, or after childbirth

  • Frequent and intense mood swings

  • Disordered eating patterns impacting your mood

You are willing to make changes to your whole-body health to complement and accelerate your mental health goals.

At Redefining Roots, we believe that holistic wellness encompasses three essential elements: emotional and mental wellness, physical health, and spiritual fulfillment. While our team primarily focuses on supporting your mental health goals, we understand that true well-being requires a comprehensive approach. We assess your physical health as a whole person and explore how making positive changes can complement and accelerate your therapy journey.

Additionally, we encourage the pursuit of spiritual fulfillment—not tied to religion, but rather a deeper sense of connection to the world, enhanced self-worth, and greater resilience in navigating life’s uncertainties. By addressing all aspects of your well-being, we aim to empower you to thrive in every area of your life.

You are willing to see the provider periodically for maintenance visits to evaluate and readjust plans (minimum every 3 months).

At our practice, we pride ourselves on fostering strong relationships with our patients, ensuring we see you every three months for ongoing care. When you first start medication, we may schedule more frequent visits to monitor how you’re feeling and assess the medication's effects. This collaborative approach allows us to make timely adjustments to your treatment as needed.

While we strive to provide the best recommendations from the start, we remain flexible to meet your unique needs. Once your medication management plan feels right, we continue to prioritize periodic follow-ups to ensure you stay on track and achieve your goals. Your progress is our top priority, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

You are open to taking mental health medications.

We take the time to assess each individual’s situation to determine whether medication is the right option for them. We highly respect our clients' opinions and want to hear about any concerns or past negative experiences with medications. Your perspective is crucial in our decision-making process, and we consider it carefully before making recommendations.

However, if we believe that medication could be in your best interest, we encourage an open dialogue about this path, ensuring that you feel informed and supported in your choices. Your well-being is our top priority, and we aim to find the best approach for your unique needs.

You have specific goals for your care.

We invest significant time in getting to know our clients’ current situations, concerns, and past experiences with therapy and psychiatric medications, as well as their overall health and wellness. We truly listen to understand your unique needs and perspectives.

By setting specific goals for your care, we ensure that you’re actively engaged in the process and ready to put in the effort to reach them. Our collaborative approach helps us work together effectively, empowering you to achieve your mental health objectives while providing the support you need along the way.

You are in the state of Tennessee.

Our provider is licensed to practice in the state of Tennessee, which means that treatment is only available to clients located within state lines. For both in-person and Telehealth appointments, you must be physically present in Tennessee during your session. This ensures that we comply with state regulations while providing you with the best possible care. If you have any questions about this policy, please feel free to reach out.

You are an active and willing participant in your mental health journey.

Being an active and willing participant in your mental health journey is essential for achieving meaningful progress. Your engagement—whether through open communication, setting specific goals, or exploring treatment options—empowers both you and your care team to work collaboratively toward your wellness. We encourage you to ask questions, express concerns, and share your thoughts as we navigate this journey together.

By taking an active role, you not only enhance your understanding of your mental health but also foster a stronger sense of ownership over your care. This partnership is vital for creating a personalized approach that truly supports your unique needs and aspirations.
